Dr. Steve Holowinski, Veterinarian

Dr. Steve Holowinski was born and raised in Johnson City, NY. Even as a child, Dr. Steve dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and helping animals. In 1985, he graduated from Ross University and later went to Oklahoma State Veterinary School and University of Guelph-Humber. 

After graduation, Dr. Steve, his wife Debbie, and their Doberman “Dino” started practice at a modern multi-hospital near Hartford, CT. In 1990, they moved back to the Triple Cities area to start a family. Johnson City Veterinary Hospital opened its doors in October 1999.

Dr. Steve spends his spare time (what little he has) with his wife Debbie, their two children, Joshua and Stephanie, and of course their four-legged children.

Dr. Joshua Holowinski, Veterinarian

Dr. Joshua Holowinski joined our practice in the summer of 2018 as a veterinarian. He has an undergraduate degree in Biology from Binghamton University and received a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in May 2018. 

Dr. Josh enjoys reading, catching up on favorite TV shows, and spending time with friends and family. He loves to take care of his adorable Maine Coon cats named Mike and Sully.

Dr. Efren Gonzalez. Veterinarian

Dr. Efren Gonzalez grew up in the Central Valley of California and has an undergraduate degree in Biology from the California State University of Fresno. He obtained his DVM degree from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. 

He joined the team at Johnson City Veterinary Hospital in the Summer of 2018. In his spare time, Dr. Gonzalez enjoys reading, hiking, and visiting his family and friends.

Debbie H., Practice Manager

Debbie has been working at JC Vet since it opened in October 1999. She is the Practice Manager of the hospital but also helps out as a receptionist if needed. When not at the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and her three cats.

Valerie D., Support Staff

Val is our kennel assistant and ensures that all the dogs and cats in our hospital are well cared for. She is also a volunteer at Stable Movements where she works with horses and helps people to ride in hippotherapy.

Sydney P., Veterinary Assistant

Sydney is a graduate of SUNY Delhi. She is a rodent enthusiast and Croc collector. She loves spending time with her two golden retrievers, five cats, rat, and her fiancé’s many fish.

Rachel w., Veterinary Assistant

Rachel is a graduate from SUNY Delhi. She has been a veterinary assistant for almost a year prior to joining our practice. Outside of work she likes spending time with her husband, cat, and puppy Milo.

Shanna S., Licensed Veterinary Technician

Shanna began work in October of 2000 at Johnson City Veterinary Hospital after graduating from high school. She got her licensed veterinary technician degree from SUNY Delhi in 2005. She spends her leisure time with her boyfriend, daughter, and two stepsons.

Ashley C., Licensed Veterinary Technician

Ashley has been a part of Johnson City Veterinary Hospital staff since 2011. Her co-workers are like a part of her extended family. She went to Sidney High School from which she graduated in 2003. She later completed her veterinary science program from SUNY Delhi in May 2011. In the summer, she completed the national board exams to become a licensed veterinary technician. When not at work, she enjoys her evenings with her family and dog Toby.

Ashley is very thankful to Dr. and Mrs. Holowinski for hiring her right out of school. She is looking forward to working with all the staff, clients and of course the pets.

Marty S., Veterinary Technician

Marty joined JC Vet Hospital in 2018 but has practiced as a licensed veterinary technician since 1991. Since obtaining her associates degree from SUNY Delhi, she has worked as both a technician and manager, but prefers teching. While enjoying time off to pursue a variety of activities, she is passionate about working with animals, particularly to make their experience at the veterinary hospital more positive and less stressful.
